What is Eid ul Fitr?

As you are aware that Eid ul Fitr is celebrated once a year with enthusiasm and exuberance all over the world, after the completion of 29 to 30 day fasting period in the holy month of Ramadhan.

Eid ul Fitr is considered as one of the most hallmark festivals of Muslim Ummah. Eid ul Fitr also marks the beginning of Islamic month Shawwal and also the end of holy month of Ramadhan. On the day of Eid ul Fitr, muslim offer congregational Eid prayers at mosques or Eid at Gahs.

The Eid ul Fitr festival is celebrated by donning new clothes, meeting friends and families. In several households, a feast is prepared as members of the family gather to partake in it.

  • Give Alms / Sadaqah to needy, poor Muslims before commencement of Eid ul Fitr prayers (Sahih Muslim)

  • Wear new and clean clothes. (Baihaki)
  • Wear a perfume, scent (Hakim)
  • Eat dates in odd number (3, 5,7 etc) before Eid ul Fitr prayers.
