Postgraduate Student Detained Over Alleged Radical Propaganda on Social Media Kulgam, Nov 13, KNT: A student from South Kashmir’s Kulgam, MSc in Lab Science, has been detained by the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) for allegedly spreading radical views and instigating public sentiment against the Indian government on social media.
According to CIK, Navidul Ali Bhat, a resident of the Tazipora-Muhammadpora village of Kulgam was using social media platforms to promote radical propaganda, encouraging people to join militant ranks and glorifying militancy in Jammu and Kashmir.
The CIK revealed that Ali was in constant contact with online entities radicalizing and motivating youth to join militant groups. Additionally, he was consuming radical content online and was suspected to be on the verge of joining the militant ranks himself.
CIK said that it apprehended Ali for questioning and summoned his parents and respectable from the locality for counseling.
The authorities have urged Kashmiri youth to refrain from engaging in such illegal activities and advised parents to monitor their children’s activities closely to prevent them from falling prey to radical influences. [KNT]
