Job Vacancies, Quality Control And Other Big Decisions Taken in Jammu Kashmir

In yet another move to boost the quality school education and fulfil the job vacancies in Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor, G C Murmu has ordered the school education department to ensure optimum teacher-student ratio in government schools to improve quality of the education.

While Chairing a meeting to review the education sector amid the current COVID-19 pandemic in Jammu and Kashmir, the LG Murmu has passed the directions.

The minutes discussed were mostly focused on the rationalization of teachers in government schools and ensure the availability of adequate teaching staff for students. The LG also directed the concerned departments to carry out the study with regard to the availability of laboratory facilities at secondary and higher secondary level schools.

The meeting also focused on the filling various vacancies under different cadres by holding a meeting of Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) and also referring to recruiting agencies to avoid Adhoc and temporary arrangements in offices and schools.
The LG has also taken note on charging of fees and transport by the private schools. In this regard, the LG asked the authorities to explore the possibility to provide one-time assistance to needy private school teachers based on details of the fees charged by the schools.

The LG has also instructed the department to submit a concept note on school mentorship program in collaboration with private schools and also move a proposal for establishing composite schools in every district across J&K.

A definite and rational proposal shall be executed by the department for the installation of TV sets in remote schools in order for them to have access to virtual classes.

The concerned departments have also been directed to look into the periodic infrastructure audit of schools after regular intervals. The LG, Girish Murmu also ordered village level committees to curb the menace of absenteeism in Jammu and Kashmir schools and stabilize the functioning of educational institutions.
