0.35 percent of budget as financial relief to low-income strata, odiously insufficient- AIP
Srinagar, 5th May: Reacting sharply to the parsimoniously insensitive approach in disbursing financial assistance amount to low-income families, Awami Itehad Party termed the Government’s response as perfunctory and cosmetic. The Government of the day must understand that things especially are bad for Kashmiris owing to the fact the entire Kashmir has been under a literal lockdown since August 5th, last year. Niggardly allocating three hundred fifty crores from a budget of more than one lakh crores corresponds to ridiculing miseries of impecunious hapless people in grave, testing times.
The financial assistance of One thousand rupees per month is abysmally exiguous to meet even the daily requirements of the people lamented Party Spokesperson, Sheeban Ashai. It is furthermore saddening how the Government of the day is unwisely tom-toming rather than taking concrete measures in helping weaker sections of the society. What is appalling is that even in this penny-pinching assistive measure, Government has discourteously left out sections comprising cab and auto drivers. Even private transport fraternity which is associated largely with the tourism industry has suffered insurmountable losses in the last fiscal year. Moreover, the Government needs to pay attention to the problems of casual Labors, daily wagers, need-based workers who have been bafflingly left in a lurch, to fend for themselves. The ground situation could be gauged from the fact that ICDS Anganwadi workers in Kulgam have not been paid since last six months.
Similarly, daily rated employees in various departments have not been paid for months together. What explains the Government’s stingy and empathy deprived attitude at such a sensitive juncture? For what purpose is the one lakh crore annual budget if they can’t even suitably help most needy and vulnerable, questioned the party top brass. Awami Itehad Party vehemently brings it to the notice of the Current Government to not play with the lives of needy and show largesse in assisting people without any further delays.
